I am excited to head to San Diego for a busy AAR meeting. Here is some of what Ill be up to.
On Friday 11/21 we will lead THATCamp (The Humanities and Technology Camp) for the second year in a row.
I will be hosting a workshop on Podcasting in Religious Studies with Brent Plate at THATCamp.
Saturday night I’ll join some colleagues for the planning of the 2015 Rocky Mountain Great Plains regional AAR meeting in Omaha.
Sunday morning I’ll offer a presentation entitled “The Chinese Science of Arabic Letters: Figurations of Muḥammad as the Perfect Human” on the Islamic Mysticism Group panel, “Islamic Mysticism in the Contemporary Age.”
Afterward, I’ll head over to the business meeting for the Contemporary Islam Group.
Sunday afternoon I’ll represent UNO at the Religion, Film, and Visual Culture Group panel on “The Journal of Religion and Film: Past, Present, and Future.”
Sunday evening I’ll moderate the Contemporary Islam Group panel on “Making Muslim American Musics.”
Monday afternoon I’ll meet the rest of the advisory board for the AAR’s Religious Studies News to see how we can transform the publication for a launch in 2015.
Very excited to see lots of friends throughout the long weekend.
