I am very excited that I was asked to join the advisory board of Religious Studies News, the American Academy of Religion’s web magazine. RSN started publication in 1989 as a quarterly print newsletter mailed to AAR members and ran until 2009. 2010 marked the transition to an online only format but it continued to use the structure of a print magazine that ultimately didn’t work well on the web.
In the Fall of 2014, Martin Kavka (Florida State University), Donna Bowman (University of Central Arkansas), and I began working closely with RSN’s managing editor, Sara Levine, to redesign both what RSN would publish and how it would communicate new pieces. We are very pleased with the results so far and I look forward to RSN becoming the go to web platform for analysis on current trends in the study of religion.
