My latest publication is part of the wonderful edited collection Islamic Thought in China: Sino-Muslim Intellectual Evolution from the 17th to the 21st Century (Edinburgh University Press, 2016). Thanks to Jonathan Lipman for all his hard work putting it togeteher.
My chapter is entitled “The Multiple Meanings of Pilgrimage in Sino-Islamic Thought,” which examines at changing conceptualizations of the hajj pilgrimage by Wang Daiyu 王岱輿 (1590-1658), Liu Zhi 劉智 (1670-1724), and Ma Dexin 馬德新 (1794-1874).
If your interested in reading it you can access it here.
An extended version of this chapter can be found in my forthcoming book, Interpreting Islam in China: Pilgrimage, Scripture, and Language in the Han Kitab (Oxford University Press. 2017).
