I am so excited to participate in the NEH Summer Institute on Islam in Asia: Traditions & Transformation at the East-West Center and the University of Hawai`i at Manoa this summer. The Institute is co-directed by Nelly van Doorn-Harder and Peter D. Hershock with a whole hosts of amazing scholars participating. Many of my favorite scholars are involved, including Asma Afsaruddin, Muhamad Ali, Barbara Watson Andaya, Bruce B. Lawrence, Ebrahim Moosa, Ronit Ricci, and Eric Tagliacozzo. I am looking forward to meeting the new cohort of colleagues too.

I attended another program of The Asian Studies Development Program at the EWC in the summer of 2011 on Dynamics of Cultural Unity and Diversity in Southeast Asia and it was a wonderful experience. Really looking forward to this experience. I highly recommend that others apply for future meetings.
